Barengi Gadjin Wail Nursery Masterplan

Barengi Gadjin (Wail Nursery) Master Plan

Barengi Gadjin (Wail Nursery) Master Plan

In collaboration with Gregory Burgess Architect.

The Barengi Gadjin Land Council represents the Wotjobaluk Traditional Owners of central western Victoria. The Wotjobaluk are the first clan in Victoria to acquire Native Title (after Mabo in the early 2000’s). The Wotjobaluk nation includes the Wotjobaluk, Jaadwa, Jadawadjali, Wergaia and Jupagulk peoples.

A master plan was commissioned by the Barengi Gadjin Land Council to explore the possibility of developing the Wail Nursery site as the administrative, commercial & cultural hub for the BGLC, and by extension, for the Wotjobaluk nations.

Gresley Abas worked with Greg Burgess to develop this master plan as the first step in testing this vision, and to provide a framework for further detailed planning to be undertaken for the Wail Nursery site.

The master plan builds on the Growing What Is Good Country Plan, published by BGLC in 2018, which provides a foundation upon which to continue to build a sustainable future for the Wotjobaluk nations.
