Glenaeon RSS Master Plan
In collaboration with Gregory Burgess Architect.
Glenaeon Rudolph Steiner School was the first Steiner school in Australia and had established its Middle Cove campus by 1970. A masterplan for the future development of this stunning bush site was undertaken in 1987 and we were invited with Greg Burgess Architects to undertake a review of this plan in 2019.
Several visits to the school enabled us to establish a connection with the unique school environment. Genuine engagement with students, parents, staff & the Board of Management allowed our team to build a deeper understanding of the values, needs and visions for the school.
Due diligence was commissioned from additional specialist consultants to validate the effects of planning, environmental and bushfire regulations.
We developed a framework for the future development of the school campus, taking into account the principles established by the previous masterplan. Identifying where not to build, was as significant a planning strategy as where to build. The steep bush site with many beautiful views, informed the selection of potential sites for future expansion.
This process offers the Glenaeon RSS a sound basis to continue to develop a strategy for the future development of the school campus.
Glenaeon is a remarkable school situated on an extraordinary site, offering the opportunity to learn immersively within a natural bushland site.
